WebMar 21, 2007 · I have a Drennan Tench float rod that I use with 6lb line when tench or chub fishing, this is a great rod if money is not an issue. I have caught a few carp to 6/7lbs on it as well. I use 8lb line on my 1.25 test curve Graham Phillips barbel rod so I would think a 1lb test curve would take 6/8lb line ok.
